Charity Concert May 11: In Like Lions

If you missed last month’s concert you missed a brilliant show by Brooklyn’s The Attic Ends and Cleveland’s The Modern Electric. Please support those fine, fine bands. (look for live EP’s soon)

This month we invited Boston’s In Like Lions to perform. They are good friends of Next favorites My Pet Dragon and they put on a show. File this under “don’t miss”. Remember live music is good for your soul (surely your soul could use a nice rock n roll massage) and it’s for charity. That’s win-win.

We are raising money and awareness for two great Westchester charities, Gilda’s Club of Westchester and The Greyston Foundation. The concerts are held at Paulie’s at 14 Marble Ave in Pleasantville NY.

I can’t wait for April 21st (our first Saturday night concert). Brooklyn’s The Attic Ends have promised a show we’ll never forget. Samantha promised me this at SXSW. Don’t miss this one.

Plus I just found out that (friends of Black Taxi) The Modern Electric, from Cleveland, will be around. They are going to stop by rock for our charities. We usually bring Brooklyn to the ‘burbs this will be our first non-Tri-State band. Like I said I can’t wait.

Plus Samantha was just featured in this advert for Heineken.

I am very happy and excited for this concert. B2C will be our first New Jersey band. Their harmonies are brilliant and they are great live. Happy to have the Callen Sisters back. Plus how many times will you be able to see (hear) a harp being played in a bar?

If I may be so bold as to steal a line from my friend as he described Black Taxi. “This band is so good that if you don’t have plans I’ll see you at the concert and if you do have plans – cancel them and I’ll see you at the concert”. I think what he is trying to say and what I am saying is DON’T MISS THIS SHOW.

Two things. They just sold out the Bowery and it’s a CD release party for their new CD “We Don’t Know Any Better”. The first 50 people through the door get Black Taxi’s new CD with their ticket. Show up early and bring your punk rock party dancing shoes.

Live music keeps you young at heart. Live music for a charity event saves your soul.

I need to thank the bands that have played during our charity concert series. They make brilliant music but maybe more importantly they are good, generous and glorious people. Please support these bands. Buy a cd. A Tee shirt. Tell your friends about them. Thank you.

Our next charity concert is one not to missed. We are bringing Black Taxi back. If I may borrow a phrase from a buddy, “If you aren’t doing anything on February 10th I’ll see you at Paulie’s, if you already have plans…cancel them.” Plus it’s a CD release party. The first 50 people that buy a ticket at the door will get their new CD “We Don’t Know Any Better” (buy it at iTunes). RSVP at the Facebook Event Page. A proper post will be coming soon-ish.

Please wouldn’t you join me for a brilliant night of music with Brooklyn’s My Pet Dragon. Think U2 to mid-80s electro pop plus backup singer Reena Shah’s Indian dancing is visually impressive. You’ll want to see this band at a small venue just to say “I was there”. It’s a charity concert too. Win-Win.
