Hello new music lovers. This a moment of in time. This week…it’s our look back at 2020. Week 3 of 4 of our notable songs of 2020. We listened back to the 185 songs that were in our monthly reviews. That was a total of 11 hours and 26 minutes worth. Yes, we wait until way too late and, yes, every year we promise to do better. So there will be mistakes. If we did this re-listen again next weekend I bet some the songs would change. Either way we think you’ll find a few songs in the coming weeks to remind you that music in 2020 was pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good. Enjoy it all and thanks for listening.
Welcome to NEXT. We have a simple goal: Find you a NEXT, new favorite song. #NextFavoriteSong
“Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable.” – Leonard Bernstein
People reflect on their lives. Where have I been? Where am I going? What am I doing? What’s the future going to be? I wonder if this is one reason I do this.
Humans of every age have a passion to organize and it’s satisfying to make order out of chaos. No? There’s a deep urge to impose order on experience. I like listening back. What about you? Sure I’m like a new music shark always moving forward AND I like our end of the month review and really dig the end of the year lists too. What say you?
We may not like it about ourselves – we judge people on their things. It’s one reason when I’m at someone’s house for a party I find a way to look at their CD collection or bookshelves. Can we hang? Should we hang? It’s a quick short cut to figuring someone out. That’s why when we first met favorite movie/music/TV show gets brought up. Plus, I like finding new, or new to me, things.
We judge ourselves that way too. Am I hip? Old? Out of touch? So judge me. What do you think of these 4 weeks?
It was tough before Covid 19. Now more than ever we need to support these bands. Even something as simple as buying an album, or a ticket to a show (when live music comes back or if they are hosting online events), or a tee shirt. And if you can buy directly from them. Even better. Thank you.
