Next is your place for new music discovery…every week we showcase great new music from artists and bands that more people should know about…one of these songs may be your next new favorite song”. Visit us on social media Spotify. Or Facebook. Or Instagram. Or Twitter. Follow or like.  Please and thank you.

Starting this week is Nathaniel Rateliff And The Night Sweats. He’s back from solo work with the band and bringing us the retro sam cooke sounds. Fantastic Negrito dedicated, Chocolate Samurai, to those of us in isolation, and has the timely refrain, “Have you lost your mind yet?!”

So bloody happy to back. Had covid 19 and for the first time in 726 weeks I wasn’t in front of a mic for NEXT. Thank you for well wishes and good vibes. I’m so happy to back on the radio…let’s get to the new music. Enjoy it all. So if you noticed I was gone. Thank you.

Pearl Jam – Seven O’Clock. Great song. Perfect album for this time. And this lyric: For this is no time for depression on self indulgent hesitance
This fucked-up situation calls for all hands, hands on deck. The Record Company with a brilliant cover. I had no idea this cover is what I wanted.

It’s next with chris bro links to Spotify, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter at all things next dot com google chris bro next that’s b r o.

Pottery with a cool Talking Heads vibes on this one. A lot of fun. I love it. Pretenders – Hate For Sale. Chrissie Hynde says, “We all love punk, so I think it would be fair to say that ‘Hate for Sale’ is our tribute to the punk band I considered the most musical of the genre — The Damned,”

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever is next. This band continues their remarkable winning streak of releasing one great single after another, making them one of the most reliable bands out there right now. The Jaded Hearts Club Band is a new supergroup with more than a little soul. After forming in Los Angeles a few years ago as a private party’s Beatles cover band, they’ve all come together now to unearth some lost soul classics. It’s fun. It’s rock. It’s soul. Did I mention fun?

We slow down with Mehro. Tender in his approach, Mehro makes his introduction to the world. Quietly. Catholic Action is Glasgow’s kaleidoscopic garage rock band. This album is mired in the now. Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp. Yes, the actor. Beck wails at the end. Great timely cover.

Moon Taxi says Hometown Heroes “More than anything, it is inspired by our long-lasting friendships. Putting it out into the world feels like the start of a new chapter for us but also an idealized look back. We hope it brings good memories to mind for you until we can create new ones together in the future.” Valley is a Canadian indie pop group, originally from Oakville, Ontario and currently based in Toronto. Olivia Jean gets advice from Jack White then she goes out and keeps garage rock alive.  It just makes sense.

Mondo Cozmo tells us that Upside Down is a song that soundtracks our collective sense of trying to stay positive while drowning in a sea of WTFs. “Every single night I watch the evening news and wonder… ’bout right,” and adds “Crazy times call for a crazy tune. It’s my attempt at a feel-good summer song in an imploding world. Good times…” Love it.  Have fun. Wash your hands. And keep listening to new music.

Please support these bands…or we wouldn’t have bands like this around to support. Buy an album, or a ticket to a show, or a tee shirt, or…something from them. Thank you. Spotify playlist updates on Thursday(ish).
