Sound City Players – The Man That Never Was
Voxhaul Broadcast – You Are The Wilderness
The Family Rain – Trust me I’m a Genius
Griffin House – Go Through It
Laura Marling – Where Can I Go?
Shooter Jennings – A Hard Lesson to Learn
Guided By Voices – Islands
Mike Mains & The Branches – Noise
Twin Tigers – Racecar
Vampire Weekend – Diane Young
David Bowie – Dirty Boys
They Might Be Giants – Lost My Mind
Eric Clapton – Still Got The Blues (Cover Gary Moore)

  • A great closing four this week:
You hit it head on with the Vampire Weekend – very much them, yet new. I like it. The new Bowie album does not disappoint and Dirty Boys is a good selection from it.
Always love to hear some They Might Be Giants.
And whether he’s the best guitarist or not doesn’t matter, Clapton is the greatest rock guitar legend and he sounds great on this new album. Another good selection here.
As always, you know my admiration for the Mats, so no surprise, I loved that selection too.
Really like the riff in the Surfer Blood song.
And the Sound City Players is definitely on my playlist now (Rick Springfield? The Jessie’s Girl guy? Who knew??)
But, I think my new favorite from this week was The Family Rain song, “Trust me I’m a genius.”

  • Love that Voxhaul Broadcast song! Nice choice. It’d be a great song for the True Blood series as well.

“Trust Me I’m a Genius” is definitely one to add to my permanent playlist. And Twin Tigers’ “Race Car.”

    Bowie is always perfect.

  • Yes Eric Clapton is the greatest guitarist, no doubt about his contribution to rock and blues.
However the new album Old Sock is neither about guitar or blues , reggae is repetitive and the album is sleepy, yawning and boring.
    Always one of his fan.

  • EXCELLENT SHOW, CHRIS! EC always great no matter the tune but especially a heartwarming trib to Gary More and my fave from him as well. And then to start off with 3 really good tracks:
    *Surfer Blood – Demon Dance
    *The Replacements – Busted Up
*Sound City Players – The Man That Never Was
And a new gem for me Laura Marling – Where Can I Go?
