I love it when a plan comes together – like wanting to make a dessert for a party the next day and having every ingredient I need already in my kitchen, including 4 ripe bananas that probably would have otherwise made it to the garbage. Love it!
Chocolate Banana Crumble
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 tbsp unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/3 chopped pecans
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9x9x2 baking pan with nonstick spray.
In a bowl, combine the banana slices, chocolate chips, brown sugar and 2 tbsp of the softened butter. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
In another bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients (including the remaining 2 tbsp of butter) – I used my fingers. The mixture will be moist, a little sticky, and crumbly. Spread the topping over the banana mixture. Bake for about 20 minutes. Let cool. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
*I’ll take a picture of this when I slice into it tomorrow, and update the post.
