Well everyone school has started and pretty soon the weather will start getting cooler and days shorter. It’s time to throw away that white Hawaiian shirt with the palm trees. Although you probably should thrown it away a long time ago. Here are some songs to usher in the fall. Remember it’s not time to be angry just yet. We don’t hate Autumn we hate winter. Winter really sucks. Autumn is a time of pumpkin carving hot apple cider and apple pies. It’s a time of cool crisp nights and of course my birthday. Anyway here are ten songs to bring on the fall season.
10. Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends – If you love American rock bands that sing with British accents then you love Green Day and you love this song. Not a bad song but boy oh boy is this video cheesy.
9. U2 – October – I’ve only heard this song once or twice but it’s named after a month in the Fall so I picked it. Hey it’s tough coming up with songs for categories sometimes ok?
8. White Stripes – Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground – Oe of my favorite songs by The White Stripes I’ve come to appreciate Jack White more and more.
7. Guns and Roses – November Rain - it took about 15 years to figure out how the bride dies in this video. Does anyone else know? Also why does everyone freak out when it starts raining? That guy who jumped through the cake was totally uncalled for. I would think you just start packing up and go inside but that’s just me.
6. Carbon Leaf – Grey Sky Eyes – Anything Carbon Leaf does just sounds good plain and simple. If you haven’t heard this one give it a listen it’s a good one.
5. Moody Blues – Forever Autumn – I have to admit my knowledge of the Moody Blues is only limited to one of my favorite songs “Nights In White Satin”. Other than that I don’t know much about them. I do remember hearing this song somewhere though.
4. Wyclef jean – Gone Til November – I’m not really sure where Wyclef is going and why he can’t come back until November but I once saw him at a festival live and he brought down the freaking house. Seriously if Wyclef is playing somewhere you are he’s a must see.
3. Neil Young – Harvest Moon – One of my favorite Neil Young songs.
2. Donovan – Season Of The Witch – I used to DJ in a bar where the bartender was the most Irish person I had ever met. He was obsessed with Donovan and every week in his heavy Irish brogue he would request a Donovan song. That guy rocked. ”Hurdy Gurdy Man” is a song I was obsessed with for a long time and this one isn’t bad either.
1. Mamas and The Papas – California Dreamin’ - A classic that sums up the Fall in the first line. I know the fat chick is dead and isn’t this the guy who had sex with his daughter or something? Yikes I’m sure she’s not mentally screwed up at all good job Papa.
So Autumn is a good time we still have a few months before winter comes. One month from today I will have my 28th birthday and I’m expecting gifts.
