Songs I Love: Delta Spirit and Dr Dog

It’s Sunday. I’m not ready to give up my weekend yet. I’m giving you two tracks in my little attempt to keep the weekend going.
First Delta Spirit’s “Bushwick Blues” How can you not like a song with the lyric “and then we grew up but me not so much”? I can relate as I once lost a girlfriend in college when I stated that my goal was to get a job that allowed me to wear shorts and a baseball hat. I’ve got the job but a different girl. I wonder where she is? I wonder if when she listens to this song she wonders “Where is Chris Bro right now?” The song builds to a brilliant guitar flourish. It’s got be special live. It’s got to help you extend this weekend.
Next up. A bit mellower but I still think it’s a weekend extender. Dr Dog”s “Shadow People”. Any dog that has the fortitude to get through 8 years of post grad studies is A OK in my book but then you add the crazy, cool, Northern Californian 60s buzziness of their tunes and I’m sold. I think my favorite line in this one is “it’s the right night for the wrong company”. Now if that doesn’t inspire you to find something (anything) to extend your weekend then I should just give up.
Listen and comment on the tunes. Please and thank you.

I’m liking this new Weekend Extender category. I’ve never heard either of these songs, but I like. I streamed them as I’m driving down the interstate and they did the job. Screw Momday, bring on another weekend :)

Great last line. Love it. Gotta love technology. Have the best Monday that one can have.

Shadow People was a grower for me, but now I love it. And I agree with what you said earlier today, Bushwick Blues, one of the best songs of 2010!

  4. Chris says:

    Well thank you Lisa
