OAR – Hey Girl, Jack Johnson – Wasting Time, and no Bob Marley?! How about “is this love” or “Jammin” ?

I like the OAR…great call and JJ is summer so that is a no brainer.

Excitable boy is a brilliant call.

    I’ll add those soon. Thanks.

Oh come on……..its a Summertime Mix. How can there be a song with the title “Stone Cold Sober?”

I was being ironic. I remove it. Good point. Although on a boat wasted it would be a nice song to hear on a mix. Maybe?

Marley will get added. and the New Jack J should sound fine in there too.

I don’t think grooveshark has a download mix button but I’ll check it out.

Well…..so long a its ironic, I could see where that song could be fun on a variety of mixes. Including drunk on a boat.

One last idea….”Swim Until You Can’t See Land?”

If you take off stone cold sober you should put on Start with me or not where its at (or both) just to keep the del ratio up. Also what about Veronica by Elvis costello

I didn’t realize this was still going on. Notably missing is Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran or The Who, Summertime by Janis Joplin, Summertime (different song) by The Sundays, Saturday In the Park and Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is by Chicago. There should be much more than one song by The Beach Boys: Surfin’ USA, Little Deuce Coupe, California Girls, Good Vibrations to start. They are the quintessential summertime band so they should get several songs.

  15. WoW… great list but how about:
In the Summertime from Mungo Jerry (not sure about spelling) and
Summer in the City by Lovin’ Spoonful must not be left out

I love that Heavy Metal Drummer and Blister in the Sun are in this mix. But then, I would love them in any mix.

I just noticed Excitable Boy again in the comments. I’ll add that. I’ll work on Ed’s suggestions too…and Elaine’s.

Sully: should I have them back to back? I think Drummer after Blister might sound pleasant.

Also look for a new guest dj up later today.

How are Bad Reputation and Sick of Myself Summer songs? I like both of those songs, but nothing about them says Summer to me. Actually now that I take a close look at the list there are a bunch of songs that don’t mention or feel like Summer on it. Besides the songs I mentioned (for inclusion) already how about Was a Sunny Day and Kodachrome by Paul Simon, possibly Cecilia by S & G?

I’m also thinking Low Rider by War and Lime in the Coconut by Harry Nilsson, Little Old Lady from Pasadena by Jan and Dean, Fun, Fun, Fun and I Get Around by The Beach Boys, The Girl From Ipanema by Astrud Gilberto

Beach Boys – All Summer Long, Duran Duran – Violence of Summer, Van Morrison – Brown-eyed Girl

Is there a cap on how many songs can be included or submitted by one person or an end date for submissions? I’m wondering, too, about whether I misunderstood what this mix is about. I assumed it was meant to have a summer theme, but maybe with so many songs included that don’t have that subject or feel it’s more songs FOR summer. Of course that would open the pool of worthy songs wide open. Personally I think it should be more songs about (or mention) or feel like summer. Also not sure if there’s an unwritten rule that they have to be indie songs which would explain why the Chicago songs are excluded, but then again there’s nothing indie about The Beach Boys. Just wondering. I guess in the end it’s your mix and the song submissions are just suggestions.

sometimes I take a bit to add songs. I’m just looking for a great summer mix to listen to on a boat at the beach.
